Rocking Chair Readers are unique learning tools designed to help your child with word building activities.
Building words from the very beginning helps children link sounds to letters and reading to spelling,
unlocking our complex code.
After introducing only a handful of letters, children will have the opportunity to listen to and build simple CVC words and learn these skills in a playful hands-on manner.
If on day one, you introduce the sounds of the letters a, m, s and t, you will be able to play by building the words at, as, am, sat, mat, and mats. Working just 5-10 minutes a day will allow your child to master these sounds quickly and move on to introduce more and more. The progression is up to you, but we have suggestions under Reading Tips
if you would like more support.
As children progress by adding sounds, they can also move on to manipulating words by deleting, adding or substituting sounds to create something new. You will have the opportunity to discuss these patterns with your child and help them to quickly become a fluent reader. Because this particular kit contains a magnetic movable alphabet, it's easy to use any where you want to practice. We recommend using these boards with children 3.5 years old or older, due to the fact that it does contains many small pieces.
